
International Roots Home Coming Festival was a Major Success in the Gambia from the 4th to the 10th January
The Gambia Tourism Authority with its line Ministry and stakeholder witnessed yet another important miles stone in the celebration of
the 10th edition of the International Roots Home Coming Festival. This event attracted many blacks living in the Diaspora to come and
discover their roots and ancestral home. This weeklong festival exposed the Roots delegates to sample Gambia Tourism potentials and also
the rich culture we are abundantly blessed with.
The festival is a biannual event organized and hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and its stakeholders in the Tourism industry.
This year's festival brought some international artist like Luciano, Mickey General all from Jamaica, Kumba Gawlo a Senegalese musician and some
seasoned international professionals from around the world. This tenth edition was specially memorable because it coincided with the black history month and most significantly
the most visible symbol of the inhuman transatlantic Slave Trade - James Island has been renamed Kunta Kinteh Island.
