The Telecommunication facilities found in The Gambia are among the best in the Sub-region. The Gambia Telecommunication Company (GAMTEL) is well known in the sub-region for its efficiency, boasting of 60% call completion rate. An efficient GSM telephone network is also in place. There is growing emphasis on increasing access to Information Technology and a number of Internet Cafes dot the streets of the urban area. The Gambia is also a signatory and member country of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) Fibre Optic Cable network. Currently there are four GSM companies in The Gambia.
